Ordering doors becomes difficult when owners, users and suppliers need to resolve important choices just as the contractor needs to order. Sindre Gundersen from Angvik Utvikling uses this example to explain why building owners should define information needs earlier.

Bring decisions forward

Drawing on a course about ISO 19650, Gundersen discusses organisational information requirements, often abbreviated OIR. Which properties matter across the property portfolio? What can be standardised, and which choices should remain with the user?

The process map shows how late decisions create repeated exchanges between parties. The proposal is to resolve more within the owner's organisation before the information reaches an individual project.

Connect requirements to service life and reuse

Function, quality, cost and the number of variants also affect the ability to reuse doors. A marketplace for standardised reused doors and possible rental of specialist doors are presented as a future scenario.

Watch the film for a practical introduction to the client's role and the discussion of what information an organisation needs. The future model is a proposal in this presentation from 2021.
