What will building information be used for, and how do we agree deliverables? Knud Mohn from NTNU presents ISO 19650 as a framework for information management. The talk was given at Standard morgen on 29 April 2021 and focuses particularly on the building's operational life.

From organisational needs to deliverables

Mohn connects organisational and project needs to agreed information requirements. The diagrams show the transition from the project information model to information supporting ownership, operations and use.

A common data environment is illustrated through controlled flow between work in progress, shared information, published deliverables and archives. The talk provides an introduction to both organisation and information flow.

Distinguish maturity from information needs

The presentation distinguishes level of information need from the Norwegian Model Maturity Index, MMI. MMI is described as a tool linked to disciplines and phases, and does not replace a description of the information the recipient needs.

Mohn emphasises leadership, skills, contracts and collaboration as important parts of digitalisation. The film suits anyone wanting to understand the connections before developing specific requirements and a BIM execution plan. References to courses and development plans reflect the situation in 2021.
